Former President's grandson, Woo-won Chun, expressed his opinion on the "tithing" of the church, which refers to the practice of donating 10% of one's income to the church. In a recent video, Chun stated that he had never heard of the idea that tithing must be followed without question, and that the important thing is not just giving money to the church, but having a heart to love all neighbors and the willingness to share what one has.
Chun also pointed out cases of embezzlement and misuse of tithing by some religious individuals, saying that the result of tithing being imposed in the Old Testament were not so good, and that it seemed like stealing from the church.
He added that he has no attachment or desire to accumulate more wealth, and that what he desires now is eternal life.
He stated that tithing in a formalistic way is not important, and that it is more important to donate or volunteer from a heart of love for neighbours.
Meanwhile, Woo-won Chun was recently investigated by the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's narcotics crime- investigation division for violating the Narcotics Control Act, and it was reported that he admitted to the charges.
